How to prepare myself reading and enjoy it?

Okay so I love reading, but reading my anatomy book just make me feel bored, especially if the words are jargon on my part.

Anyway, so med students or pre-med students, I know that you love your courses, but not necessarily means that you love your anatomy books.

I read for the sake my grades, but sometimes, while reading, I feel sleepy and just not interested.

any tips?

btw, in case you're wondering, my course is PT (3rd year)

  1. Unfortunately medical textbooks are not meant for enjoyment, and that goes double for anatomy books. But occasionally a British author will pen a droll paragraph. Our small dissecting manuals were called "Little Johns" after the author, John Cunningham. One item went something like this: "when the intestines are removed from the abdomen, the student will note that the stump of the mesenteric attachment to the posterior wall assumes the appearance of a goffered frill."

I'm not an expert on fashion, but I think goffered frills went out of style in the 1890s, if not earlier.

  2. I took both A & P I and II.  I didn't read the book since I couldn't keep my interest in it and my mind would wander.  I bought a book that made it all simple.  The book I bought was much shorter and straight to the point.  It had tests I could use to review before the test.  I didn't read most of my college text books since I learn by listening and I also didn't take notes.  I would follow along in the book during lectures and high light what was talked about.  I would review this before the test.
