In cross country practice, we've been running 20 minutes each day, and coach wants us to run 40 minutes tomorrow. How do I prepare in one day?

  1. Don't drink lots of water. Whoever said that obviously doesnt run. Drink some water before you start running but NOT ALOT. Water slows you down and when you start running you will feel sick. Before you leave, STRETCH. Don't just stretch your legs, stretch EVERYTHING. you will feel it in the morning. thats all. =)

  2. Stretch. You probably know that already but that is a huge thing for running. Other than that, stay hydrated. Keep a slow pace when you run so you don't cramp up, just not too slow. The stamina will be there for you if you have been running 20 minutes each day. Good Luck.

  3. I used to be on track

lets see what I do is i ran for how ever minutes we were going to do the next day come one and take a warm bath i no to old for that but its relaxing and helps your mussels so after that just take it easy in bed and get a good night sleep and eat a good healthy breakfast.

    Good luck!

  4. I agree with hydrating and taking it slow.  Develop a breathing as well.

  5. i've run XC years and one thing i've learned is everything you do prepares you for the next and that the coach always knows when his runners are ready

don't worry soon when you're running 4-6 miles a day or the 45 minuets in the mountains with all those hills you'll be looking back to these 10 to 20 to 40 minuets workouts on the track or the grass

just have fun and you'll do great

    hope it helps :]

  6. Drink lots of water, just take it slow

  7. Nothing you can really do to prepare for such an increase in such a short amount of time... I would suggest running at a little slower pace so that you don't get too tired when you start getting near the 30 min mark. XC is fun... I liked track better.
