  1. Cleaning the bones, requires some skill

    and  lots of .patience

boil them gently, in ample water  for four hours

rinse and carefully scrape off, all remaining meat and sinews

return them to clean water  and boil gently for two further hours

drain dry and dab with none fleecy cloth .

place all the bones carefully on  a tray,

    on none- stick  kitchen paper

place in a cool oven, (lowest setting ) for two hours

Be sure it is a  COOL oven ,

as you do not want to burn the bones ., just dry them out

Allow to cool   for at least four hours

    then carefully assemble skeleton bones

( they will be very brittle so be careful)

I can guarantee the bones will not be smelly, with this

method  no toxic additions are necessary either

    .

    good luck

  2. put them in a oven on low about 200 degrees to dry them out.  A couple of hours or check earlier for the smaller bones

  3. yes boil for 30 mins dry it in the freezer and then spray with hair lacquer

  4. All you have to do is make sure all of the meat and cartilege (that stuff that hold the joints together) is TOTALLY gone.  Then you need to dry the bones out either by baking them in the oven or if you live in a hot, dry area by letting them sit outside in the sun for several days on something absorbent (like a brown paper bag or newspapers/paper towels, etc.).  It's the meat, muscle, organs, etc. that let off odors as they decay, the bones themselves won't have any odor once they are dried out!!

  5. Clean the bones and bury them in sand for a week (7 days) sand is a natural way to extract moisture without the bones cracking or becoming brittle as many find out by trying to force dry them. keep the sand inside your house so the weather does not effect them. I use a 5 gallon bucket. after the bones are done take out a fine brush and clean them - use a very light and clear varnish - I use the spray on crystal clear acrylic made by Krylon.
