I start having them like sometime this month. Right now im on my second one and i have an doctors appointment tomorrow. I tried the OTC azo tablets for time being to ease the discomfort. Is there anything else i can do prevent UTI'S from happening

for example::: will cranberry supplements help? or urine pills to wash away the bacteria in my urine that may causing it or taking vitamin C? maybe using a douche bag once every month after my monthly cycle like now

  1. Keep the area clean. When you feel the urge to pee - go straight away...most of the time a UTI occurs because the person 'holds it' too long! Drinking cranberry juice will help flush it out but honestly a cold beer does better...the beer will also give you the urge to pee more frequently! Sometimes not drinking enough water can also cause discomfort (also clear fluids) - drinks with a high sugar content (like soda) will only add to the discomfort so I would stay away from these types of drinks until it clears up....

    Hope this helps!

  2. seriously, drink water, water, water.

  3. Wipe front to back, and always pee after s*x without a condom.  Always!

  4. Cranberry juice helps. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to flush out your system. Also be sure to urinate frequently because holding it all the time can cause infection.

  5. I would just suggest to just drink lots of Cranberry juice & water.  The azo pills don't do as much work as the cranberry juice does, and if it gets worse you might have to go to the dr. to get antibiotics to get rid of the infection.  They are not fun (UTIs) cuz I had a miscarrige from them early on in pregnancy caused by the otc prenatal vitamins but I mostly blame my ob/gyn for it.  Hope it helps.  Feel better soon *hugs*

  6. My family had the same problem... we used cranberry supplements and drank cranberry juice. It seemed to work.

  7. Drinking at least of 2 cups of Cranberry juice and enough water to flush your system.

  8. Urinary tract infections are like a dietary imbalance. Your diet is too low in fiber. You just need to get more fiber in your diet as soon as you notice you are starting to pee too much. The fiber will absorb your fluids, make you stop peeing too frequently.

Go to the drug store and buy some bran cereal. The cereal will utterly plug you up. It will make you absorb your fluids to digest the fiber. It will have vitamin supplements to replenish your system and lots of sodium and potassium. The vitamins and sodium are an extra bonus to help you replenish your system so your anxiety can subside and you can get yourself hydrated again. Once the anxiety and the cravings subside, you know you will be all right.

If after, say a couple of weeks, you find yourself coming down with another infection, immediately eat a nice green salad. The sooner you act, the more likely it just won't happen. In this case, you have an on-going condition that seems to contribute to more of the same thing. You are very dehydrated and probably a bit anemic.

Cranberry supplements are supposed to prevent infections. Now, that you have one, it's too late to be affective. It will just put more fluid in your system and make you pee more. I think it makes it worse.

I had a UTI and I called a manager at a health food store and this is what he suggested. I did it and it worked immediately. I had it so bad I didn't think I could go to the doctor, I didn't think I could control myself. I was pushing blood and striving and straining every time I went. I never saw a doctor and I have never used medication. I am fine.

Go out and get some bran cereal. It works.

  9. Cranberry juices are great for clearing the kidneys.  Tylenol might help with some of the discomfort(ask your doctor).  Drink plenty of water and juice during the day.  Stay away from colas and other caffeine drinks like tea!  Vitamin C is always good to have around the house. Good hygiene is highly recommended when you are on your cycle, but check with your doctor about douching.

  10. drink a lot of cranberry juice.

  11. Drink cranberry juice.... also creme of tarter helps.

  12. Wash your hands BEFORE you go to the bathroom.  Chances are your hands carry bacteria that touches the toilet paper that you are using to wipe with...so in essence you are wiping bacteria on your "you know what" .
