How to prevent a dry mouth at night?

Every night I get up to drink 10 glasses of water. I get up every 30 minutes to drink one sip and then go back to sleep and wake up again for another sip. My mouth and throat gets extremely dry. At first I thought the problem was my toothpaste, but i switched and still had the same problem. Then i thought, I wasnt getting enough water in the day, but now I'm drinking and its not helping. I'm not sure how to prevent this really dry mouth and throat, the only relief i have is getting up and drinking water. But Ramadan is near, and I will start fasting and I cant get up in the night and drink water. So any ideas how I can manage my dry mouth?

By the way, I have braces, and I wear my rubber bands at night, could that be a problem?

  1. Talk to your dentist. There are artificial saliva/moisture formulas to help people who have dry mouths. It will keep your mouth nice and moist without getting up all night to drink water! Good Luck.

  2. wow i feel sorry for you! i would hate to wake up thirsty all night. you should seek medical advice or speak to you dentist otherwise ramadan is going to be extremely awkward!

ramadan mubarak hun & good luck with you dry mouth! xx

  3. do u have diabetes

  4. Do you have air conditioning or a fan in your room? Maybe it's drying the surrounding air too much. I'm in Florida and even though it's damp & muggy outside- the air conditioner keeps it cool & dry in the house. The dry air started giving me nosebleeds, after I got a humidifier my nosebleeds stopped & I don't need to drink as much water. Try using a humidifier in your room- hopefully, the added moisture will help ease your dry mouth.
