Well i just took my dogs out for there late night pee. Well after i let all of them out in my fenced in yard i see this big thing in my back yard. I am freaking out and call for my dogs. 8 of them come then i see cody chasing this thing ( i then realized it was a BOB CAT!) so i called for cody (thank god he listens good) he came running back towards me the bob cat ran a little towards him and stopped. I put all of the dogs in the house. I go back out and its still there starring at me. My husband isn't home right now. I have no idea how it got in my yard. How do i prevent my dogs from getting attack by this bob cat? I have NEVER seen one since ive lived here. I am shaking so bad. If this bob cat does attack my dogs what should i do?

  1. Keep your dogs in the house.  Cats (even bob cats) are nocturnal, so it ought to be gone by morning.  If you have to let them out yet tonight, use a flashlight to check if the bob cat is still out there.  I'd rather have my dogs pee and pooh in the house than have one of them attacked by a bob cat.

  2. buy a shotgun, or call the humane society

  3. Bob cats can have a bad attitude as you saw,but usually they will not be stupid enough to stay where there is a dog pack. Can you get a long hose and fit it with a high powered nozzle? You want as much pressure as possible. They will find another path if you hit them with the water but it has to have enough pressure to knock them a little.Do you leave dog food out for your dogs is so STOP?Could a rabbit have gotten in your yard and he was chasing it?I would get the nozzle and sit in the dark and wait.If it gets a dog its really bad the damage they can do.Be careful but don't be to afraid it does not want to mess with a human unless cornered. I actually doubt that it will come back after now knowing you have a pack.Oh hats off to you for training your dogs so well that they come with such a distraction going on..Tilks Mom

  4. Leave your dogs in the house call animal control they should have an after hours number. If not call the local police and they will get someone out there. Dont shoot the bobcat.  You can also make loud noises like banging things together and It should scare it off. Most important leave your dogs in and if they have to go out stay with them at all times.

  5. get a gun and shoot the bobcat or call animal control

  6. You need to calm down, and you know why. It's not good for you to be upset right now. The dogs are alright ( thank God ) and that's all that matters. Wait for your husband to come home and see if he can get that thing out of the yard. I am so glad your dogs listen so well, I don't think mine would have. Keep your dogs in for the rest of the night...even if they have to go to the bathroom...let them do it in the house this one time....better safe than sorry. Stay calm and it will be alright. Please don't get too upset, it's not healthy.

  7. first calm down

call your husband and ask him if he can come home early.

    if not lock ALL windows,doors,etc.

do NOT let your dogs out

if you want you could call animal control because they will catch it and maybe find a home for it.

check your dogs for bites, scratches, etc that the bobcat could of done.

if your dogs are hurt try to patch up the wound and take them to the vet NOW or FIRST thing in the morning

    hope i helped!

    good luck

  8. Get the hose, Some freakishly bright flashlights, and some Pots and Pans.

First, Shine the flashlights all over the yard scaring the kitty.

Then Start Bangin' the Pots and Pans together.

Then, if that doesn't work turn the hose of full blast... ( If you get where I am going with this ).

Hopefully that will scare miss kitty away for tonight.

Then tomarrow you can order a "Live/humane Bob Cat Trap" off of Ebay.

Until it comes, accompany your dogs out every night with all of your house lights on and before you let them out be sure miss kitty in not in your yard.

I am glad that none of your dogs got hurt.

  9. start by calling the police. They have to do something if there is a bob cat sighting in a rural neighborhood.

  10. bobcats are hunters....and your doggies are food...good thing you saw the other animal and your babies are safe.... I would call animal control....this animal is probably lost or out of its range looking for food......someone's cat probably will not make the night...

So, Animal Control ..... its the way to go...

Then see what they say about the frequency of this in your area....

If you live in the city limits, skip the gun,.....neighbors don't like being shot at....it makes them mad

    GOOD LUCK..

oh, CALL THE NEWS STATION....that would be fun....

  11. I doubt that the cat will attack your dogs. Dogs are pack animals and they could very easily kill the cat, especially if you have 8 dogs.  The bob cat was probably freaking out when she saw all those dogs coming out of the house.  Turn on some outside lights, take a pan or some metal lids and go make some noise out back which will probably chase her away.  They are very secretive animals and usually stay away from humans as much as possible.  She probably jumped the fence chasing something so I'm sure she can get back outside the fence.

  12. Don't let the dogs out, and call animal control.  Simple as that.  It will kill your dogs if you let them out, if it is hungry enough.

  13. bob cats are small.  are you sure you don't mean cougar?

  14. lock the doors up and call animal control. that's about all you can do. and then just wait it out, wait for animal control to get there. don't take any chances, don't go outside. that is a wild animals and could not only harm your dogs but you as well.
