Question:

How to prevent bubbles coming up from plughole in kitchen?

In the kitchen there are two plugs, one for the main sink, the other for a smaller section, still a part of the kitchen sink installation, but has a sieve basin thing in it. Not sure what the point of it is. Anyway when I'm doing the dishes in the big sink, whatever goes down the plug comes up the plug in the smaller sink. There's no blockage, the drain outside the kitchen is fine. But it seems the U-bend is too small to cope with washing up liquid bubbles. What can I do, if anything?

  1. phone a plumber ! maybe you need extra room in the pipe section and a lot bigger drop.

  2. Can you not just put the plug in the smaller sink when you take it out the big one?

  3. You need to change the waste pipework underneath the sink, so that each plughole has its own run to the outlet (drain), then one won't affect the other.

  4. plug the drain

    don't drain the plug

  5. go outside and see if your drains are blocked if so,

get a friend round to rod them for you,

that will clear the problem for you.

also check your manholes , just incase the sewers are

    blocked up.

  6. Sounds like you have a fat blockage, put some washing powder down followed by a kettle of boiling water, this will disperse the fat, dont put anything else down (Preferably do it before you go to bed) hopefully this will clear it
