Question:

How to prevent eyeliner from moving "down"?

I always wear my black eyeliner pencil on my bottom lids/lash line. However, every single day it smudges down and I start to have raccoon eyes. I have to keep going to the washroom at work and check up on it, and use a kleenex sometimes with a little water to wipe away the liner that moves down. I hate this. I don't know how to fix it. It happens all the time but is obviously worse during summer/humidity. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

  1. Invest in a better eyeliner that is smudge proof. Sephora as many so I would go there and ask one of the people that works there to point you to an eyeliner that will help your situation. Also maybe it's the way your applying it. Make sure the eyeliner is on the lash line.

  2. You can do one of two things. Invest in a good quality eyeliner like MAC Power Point. OR You can set the liner you already use with a black eye shadow so that it doesn't cause the raccoon eyes. Get an angled brush and run the black shadow over the liner. That should help!

  3. its because around your eyes are greasy. do you use makeup remover? if you do it leaves a greasy feeling on it after you use it. ever if it says no oil. so after you use makeup remover , wipe it away with a wet rag. that should help! :)

and if you dont use makeup remover. before you put make up on in the morning, again wipe around your eyes with a wet rag. that gets all your natural oils from your skin off so your makeup wont smudge!

  4. waterproof eyeliner

  5. I'm pretty much with the consensus...I think it's time to try a different eyeliner. It really makes a lot of difference. I have oily skin, so I had smudginess problems too. These are the products I have tried myself and find smudge less.

I highly recommend using gel liner. There's MAC Fluidline, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner, or even Loreal now makes one (I haven't tried that one though, just the first two). It might take some getting used to applying, but I find it looks much nicer and lasts way longer than any pencil I've tried. I like to apply with a small angled brush. You can get MAC's or Bobbi's, but I got an inexpensive one from Sephora that works just as well.

If you prefer pencil, the best I've tried is Urban Decay 24/7. The black is called "Zero." It lasts so well that it's actually kinda hard to remove. I have to used something oil-based to get it it off. So I still like the gel liner better because it washes off with regular soap and water.

The only mascara that doesn't smudge on me is Blinc Kiss Me mascara, and they make a liquid liner of the same formula. It's available at Sephora. This doesn't smudge, and removes easily with just water.

Lastly, you can try a primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion, it's made for the eye area, and I find it holds not only eyeshadow on without creasing, but eyeliner too. It's also available at Sephora.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

  6. Keep things (makeup remover, foundation, and shadow) oil free and use powder.  I would also try some black/dark gray eyeshadow over the eyeliner to kind of "set" it.  I personally quit using pencil and use shadow with a liner brush to line my eyes.  If you're into really dramatic liner it may not work because it's a more subtle effect, but I really like it.

  7. Urban Decay Primer Potion and Gel Eyeliner. I use Bobbi Brown gel liner and it stays put all day long. I never have to touch it up, its great,

  8. wear less.

its pretty inevitable. and no waterproof doesnt work.

try to wear the least as possible. and im not sure but maybe putting a tiny bit of vaseline underneath ur eye will help this. i havent tried this, but it makes sense because people do that if they dont want hair dye on theyr neck, or paint.. etc
