Also called Red Ring of Light, Red Ring of Death but I need some help. I had this problem already and sent my Xbox 360 back to Microsoft but im not sure it will be 100% fixed and I dont want to keep waiting and wasting my playing a game time on the Xbox 360 sending it to the company. So since I called and asked ''MICROSOFT TECH SUPPORT'' this question why dont you help me with it since they didnt help me prevent it at all. What way should my console face, how should it lay, where should my console be kept, should I buy any of those intercoolers? Or any other ways to prevent this rrod. Please, please try to be as detailed as possible! Thank you :).

  1. 1st)  Stand the xbox up (Up and down) DO NOT LAY IT DOWN

2nd) Keep it in an open space dont put it on a shelf or something that dosent allow air

3rd) If you cant do step 2 then buy an intercooler

  2. Don't play it too long. Like 10 hours sraight, that is not good. Well i play like 10 to 12 hours but mine doesnt overheat since it has the falcon chip and i have an xbox 360 elite. Check the back of ur xbox everytime to see that its not hot and if it gets really hot, turn ur console off. Its better if u lay ur xbox sideways instead of vertical.

  3. You can't. I work for MS and chances are that RROD might happen to you. RR DD has to do with a chip problem which is unfortunately in any XB 360 you buy. You could avoid getting it sooner than others by not overheating. Put it standing up and put in a place where is very ventilated.

  4. THE XBOX 360 WAS DESIGNED WITH A FAN THAT IS WAY TOO SMALL ESPECIALLY FOR EXTENDED PLAY BUT THERE IS AN EASY WAY TO FIX IT WITHOUT SENDING IT IN

  5. Well don't play too much, if you play more than 5 hours that well increase of RROD. I normally average 1 hour 30 mins play. Also put your xbox in a place will its cool don't put it near close objects like top of DVD player, side your TV, or close to another deceive, that will heat up your xbox. I have mines since March and haven't happen so far...

  6. ok so first find a guy to do this for you it will cost maybe around 20-40 dollars  just to let you know they will open it up so this will void your warranty as they will install a new fan in the 360 to keep it cool but just make sure you can call them first to make sure you can trust and meet him in person. Or as said in one of the answers buy an inter cooler and do it yourself and make sure the fan is not block or your 360 is not on a carpet i found this out the hard way lol. or if you get rrod again pay 90 or so dollars cuz they will fix it and probably put in a new fan for you good luck.

  7. You can't prevent it from happening. You can't make it have a failure rate of 0% it is impossible. All things fail, the XBOX 360 is no exception.

  8. You could buy a xbox 360 cooler that attaches to your xbox. I have been told that this can prevent RROD.
