  1. Turn right blinker on before your intended turn.

    Stop completely behind stop line or crosswalk.

    Verify that there are no cars coming through the light.

    Check for pedestrians crossing against the light! When they see the same clear road as you, they might decide to cross.

    If you hit them- even if they are crossing against their light- you will be responsible.

    Carefully turn into the closest lane to you.

    Proceed down the road and accelerate.


  2. Watch out for pedestrians who might be on the roadway.  Turn on your turn signal and proceed at a speed of about 15 mph.

  3. let me propose one additional step in ucantcme's procedure.  This would be the 1st step:  move into the right hand lane (or any designated right-turn lane, if available) before arriving at the intersection.
