How to produce electricity and save it and avoid wastage?

For example run an exercise bicycle with a dynamo and hook it up to a storage battery with a voltage and amperage control or use a light bulb to dispense the extra power.

Go up an elevator but come down by stairs. Devise gadgets that utilise the perpetual motion principle to diminish energy input. Try to do all things more efficiently.

There is no such thing as "wasted electricity"

There seems to be this false idea around that if a generator is not running at it's full capacity, the electricity is "wasted".

Not true at all. The input to the generator, steam, falling water, whatever it is, is adjusted to match the load, that is, the demand. If the demand falls, the steam is cut back, and that communicates to the source of the steam, and that is cut back also.

but anyway, ways of storing electricity:

battery

pump water to a high reservoir, then use it to run turbines.

use motor to spin a large flywheel, then use it to run a generator.

Decompose water into H2 and O2, then burn them in a fuel cell

There are many ways  to generate electricity ,but very few ways to store it. The battery is it.

There are many ways to produce electricity.

Most conventional ways are, Hydro, thermal and nuclear.

Other methods in nonconventional are, solar, wave,wind etc.or for that matter and principally anymoving thing by natural forces can be used to produce electricity by applying proper methodology and technicque. Like somebody has tried to produce by putting some sort of device like crankshaft below the road and when any vehicle was passing over it, it was producing electricity.

Now regarding saving and wastage, there can be 100s of ways one can do in home, offices, factories by using proper illumination standards, avoiding gadgets consuming energy for generating heat rather than light etc etc.One has to think a cheaper alternative for everything.
