How to program ford key fob? I have a 1999 ford explorer

I need to know how to program a key fob for a 1999 ford explorer. I just got the key fob and have no clue how to program it. Is it something i have to go to the dealer for or is it possible to do it myself?

  1. Instructions are in the owners manual.  Assuming you actually have keyless entry installed on the vehicle.  You cant just buy a keyfob and have keyless entry.


  2. Turn ignition on and off 8 times before 10 seconds and leave switch in on position and toverify this has enabled the FOB programming then the door locks will lock and unlock.Push any button on the new FOB and it should accept the program.
