Question:

How to pronounce الوزن and الهنة?

I am trying to learn Arabic and I have this book and even though it DOES put the vowels in (which i couldn't here) I still don't understand why those two words are pronounced as they are. Here is the transliteration from the book: " 'al-wazn" and "al-mihnatu". I don't understand why the first one isn't "al-waznu" because there is a damma over the last "n" in the book, so shouldn't there be a "u" (sometimes sounds like "o") sound at the end. Also, in the second word, where is there an "mim" in between the "lam" and "ha"? I don't understand where that "m" sound comes from. Please help! Thanks! :)
