Question:

How to properly clean glasses?

Every time I wipe my glasses with my cloth, It leaves smudges near the at the left and right sides. Cleaning my cloth does not work. Spraying my glasses with rubbing alcohol or lens cleaner doesn't work. Soaking my glasses doesn't work either. Please help it is very frustrating!

  1. i find the best thing is to use vinegar on them with a clean cloth

Do you have an anti reflection coating on your lenses?  This would account for the smudging as it is an oil based coating.  It is great as it cuts down glare and enhances the look of your lenses, but on the down side, lenses do get smeary and grubby.  The best way to clean is with a spray from your opticians or alternatively warm water followed by a dry with a micro fibre cloth, again, your Optician will have these cloths.  Never use soap or washing up liquid it can damage the coating.  you will see if you have an anti reflect coat as if yu examine your lenses there will be a reflective colur effect on the lenses usually purple or greenish.  Hope this helps.  My Hubby is a qualified Optician

  3. Try a natural method like lemon and ice cold water. After, try a paper towel and gently wipe. Hopefully the roughness of the paper towel will get those smudges.
