  1. jump rope, stretch and stay warm. my coach used to keep me in restrooms that were more heated to keep me calm and warm. i dont recommend watching your competitors skate because it will only make you more nervous. go to the bathroom before you put on your dress haha. you will end up having to go again because of nerves and the cold. keep your focus and maybe listen to your music on a cd/mp3 player and go over your program in your head. before you skate, set up your program on the ice you will be skating on so you know what side to start on etc because other rinks will be set up and feel different than your home rink. make sure your tights dont have any rips and that your skates are tied well. use your time wisely on your warm up session. warm up, get a feel for the ice,do things that worry you, run through your program at least one time.

  2. Yes, move around some, stretch a little  before, but dont tire yourself out. Most likely you get to your competition AT LEAST an hour or two early and your coach will help warm you up. If not, warm yourself up there. Run two laps around the inside of the rink. Run through your program off ice. Stretch, and youll be fine! If there is a public session, hop on and do all your jumps and spins ONCE or maybe twice if necessary. Also do your footwork/spirals or whatever else.

Do this at home today or before your competition: This might sound dumb but get your program music on your ipod and listen to it in front of a mirror and runthrough as best you can off ice. This is really when to practice your arms (and see if they look goofy or not) and facial expressions.

    Checklist:

-Get at least 9 hours sleep before the competition. AT LEAST!

-Bring your music if your coach doesnt already have it (TWO copies, just in case)

-Bring at least two waters, sip and keep hydrated

-IF in doubt come in your dress and two pairs of tights (one footed, one unripped over the boot)

-Eat LIGHT before (salad, toast, bagel, etc. dont stuff yourself) and bring a snack for after

-Skates (Obvious, but people have forgotten them before)

    -Extra skate laces

-A small handheld screwdriver for loose screws (again just in case)

-get your skate dealer to buff up those blades!

-Make sure you have new, unholed tights (footed and over the boot)

-Bring your jacket and gloves for warmup

-If you can, dont wear a bra under your dress (eww i know)

-SOME people say dont wear underwear (ive never done that, i dont really mind wedgies)

    - Wear your tights to your b***s (sounds dumb but it hides frumpy bumps. even if your skinny do it, or they bulge)

-shave those armpits! the worst is to see someone with fuzz in a halter dress... gross!

    MAKEUP AND HAIR:

-Bring makup and hairspray (Just in case your coach is a tyrant and wants to change it last minute)

Really you should ask your coach about this, but if not:

For your hair: After you shower, use hair gel librally. Comb it back as if you are going to put it into a neat bun. (dont actually put it up wet yet) Dry it back in this position, and add more gel/hairspray along the way if necessary. It should be straight back, or part your hair and put it back neatly that way. Use a regular black hairtye to put your hair in a ponytail. If your hair is thin, put in scrunchie around you ponytail and spread your hair around it in a bun so it covers the scrunchie. Put in another hair tie now. Take the ends and wrap them around. Put a hair net around TWICE,  just the bun, make sure it matches your hair color. Now you can put a black or white (or matches your dress) solid colored scruchie around it all. If your hair is thick enough, just do a normal bun, or braid it and wrap it around. Then do the hair net twice around the bun, and top with a scrunchie.

For makeup: Use a foundation that matches your skin tone to cover any spots or acne, then use a powder on top to keep it in place. Use a pink or red blush (or lipstick on your fingers, which is what i actually do) on the apples of your cheeks. For eyes, use natural eyeshadow. Apply a light brown to the eyelid, and a dark brown/pewter to the crease. Smudge! Use a black or dark dark brown eyeliner. Use it librally, because skating makeup shouldnt look good up close anyways. Line the top lid by makeing the line thicker towards the outside corner and thinner towards the center (not drastically though). Line the bottom lightly, and smudge the lines you have made.

Use a black mascara or fake eyelashes. Use coral red or a lipstick dark/bright enough for your skin tone. Use it librally, and if you want put foundation on your lips first, then apply the lipstick (itll stay better)

Now stand at least five feet away from a mirror. Can you see makeup? If so, you did it right. Remember, it needs to be heavy! It should look ridiculous up close.

Best of all, dont be nervous, dont think about it, GOOD LUCK!!

Sorry this was so long! XD

  3. Strech and warm up before the competition, eat normally but dont eat a big meal just before the competition, you should eat your big meal more than 2 hours before the competition and before you could just eat a cookie or something like that.

Take a copy of your CD with you. For your hair a ponytail, its ok, but be sure that you dont have hair in your face. For makeup put something natural, just like blush, eye shadow, compact, maybe rimel and maybe deliner, if you feel comfortable and pretty its ok... Its your choice!

    =D

  4. The most important to do is to stretch a little. If you do not stretch daily than you might want to keep the stetching to a minimum because it can make you quite sore! Make sure to eat properly throughout the day but not to eat a heavy meal right before you go on the ice. Be sure to bring an extra copy of your music just in case of anything. In terms of makeup and hair, don't do anything too crazy but make sure that all flyaways are smoothed back with hairspray and that your wearing just enough bronzer so that you don't look sickly when your on the ice. Most importantly, have fun and good luck!!!!

  5. Make sure you just eat a healthy, balanced diet. Many skaters like to eat a potato or other meals with high carbs. like spaghetti the night before they skate for more energy. The very most important thing is that you stretch your entire body out very well a little bit before you skate. Every competition is a little different in how they handle the music, some have you turn in your CD when you check in others have you had in a copy earlier, this you should ask your coach about. As for hair and makeup, I'd suggest having your hair put up in a ponytail or a bun if possible, it just helps keep your hair out of your face, and as far as makeup just keep it simple and nice and maybe a little extra glitter. If you'd like to listen to a little bit of music before you skate, may skaters have headphones in while they stretch before they skate. Good luck!
