How to properly remove the Fentanyl Patch from my cats skin.?

My cat had dental work done on Monday, and it has been 5 days. The Fentanyl Patch needs to come off today, but the vet office is closed, so I cannot call to ask. Should the vet remove it, or is there some type of ointment/baby oil/water trick that I can use to remove it? I didn't think to ask when I picked her up :( I thought it would be easy to remove, but it's on her skin pretty good.

  1. what u can do is use a little bit of mineral oil and gently pull it off.  you may see some hair come off with it but your cat will be fine.  when u remove it u should flush it down the toilet.  but like the person said above, it won't hurt if u leave it on for another couple of days until the vet office opens.  the medicine has already been absorbed enough.  but just a little tid bit of info...  the vet office will just pull it off anyways.  they won't do anything special so its ok for u to pull it off.  she will be fine.

  2. It will be ok if you move it. Just  pull it off carefully and slow.  I wear the fentanyl patch every day and it does hurt sometimes if its on real good. It won't hurt the cat to leave it on until the vet opens because the medincine already ran out. So whatever you do will be fine.
