How to propose: Please give opinion...?

I am trying to figure out how I am going to propose, I have the ring already...we are going to Deep Creek, Maryland next week...I was thinking taking her for a walk right around sunset maybe even after sunset and walk out on the dock, as we stand there and talk I propose...OR...when she comes home from work, I'll have lots and lots and lots of candles in the living room waiting for her on one knee....or any other suggestions? We've been dating for over 3 years and I can't tell if something simple like the first scenario would be nice or something more on the elaborate side (even though it's not all that elaborate)

  1. Perhaps a romantic carriage ride and roses.

  2. Surprises are nice, so the more out-of-the-blue the better. I guess after three years she might not be expecting it as much, but one of the things that made when my fiance proposed so special was that he managed to surprise me. We were making a day trip to Stratford, so it was pretty obvious that he was going to propose, but he did so right before lunch, when I wasn't expecting it.

  3. I like the first idea more. You should take her out to eat, then take a walk, then when everything feels right....Tell her how much you love her and ask her the question....

    I hope she says yes!

    Good luck!

  4. I really like your first idea, its sweet. Or I would take her after work and tell her you have a suprise. Blindfold her and then take her to your backyard(or somewhere outside) and have like a zillon candles and then propose.

  5. ok if it we're me, i wouldn't want my bf 2 propose 2 me with candles  and on his knee and everything.  i want it 2 be simple. i like the walk idea the best.  someone i know did this- he made a build a bear and recorded himself asking her to marry him.  i thought it was a rele clever and neat idea, but i know that it might not be the right thing for everyone.  just remember that once you propose she'll be soooooo happy, how you did it won't rele matter that much.

  6. When my boyfriend proposed to me he just got down on one knee totally out of the blue and asked, girls are very good at working things out so if you make it random and unexpected that's always nice, but it's not how you ask her it's why your asking her tell her what she means to you and why you want to marry her:).

Good luck hope all goes well.

  7. Simple is always better.

  8. Personally I like the first idea, it's a bit more spontaneous. If I came home from a day at work and my house was full of candles I would freak out about fire hazards and the smell would probably give me a migraine - if my cats hadn't already knocked over the candles and burned the place down haha!

Simple is always better and spontaneous is always welcome!

Go with your gut and get her on the rocks - just don't drop the ring in the river!!! ( =

    Good luck

  9. I like the sunset idea. When my husband proposed to me he did it while singing (he is a singer) he just changed the last few lines of the song. Then he came over to me and got down on one knee. I cried happy tears and of course I said yes.

  10. Either is lovely. But I like the first one.

    Good luck!

  11. I like the walk during sunset idea. :) Good luck!

  12. I like the walk idea. If you have candles and everything, she'll know something's up (unless that's somehting you do often, and if it is, good for you!). Just take her on a walk and when you get to a place that's a little bit more private, get down on your knee,a nd ask. I think getting down on one knee is vital for a proposal, but that may just be me. After you ask, assuming she says yes, you could then go out to a nice dinner to celebrate! Good luck

  13. Take her out to dinner and ask the manager to put the ring on top of a small slice of chocolate cake and bring it out to her after the meal. (make sure to tip the manager well to ensure he will take good care of your ring!)

  14. the first one! the second is just a little too cliche (although sweet).  plus, in the first one you can walk a little while, build up to it, make sure everything is perfect.  she may walk in in a horrible mood from work or something (with the second option) - you never know.

good luck!! I love hearing about proposals!

  15. Both sound sweet to me.  Another idea is to have a sort of treasure hunt. Leave her notes or clues to go to another location. At the final destination, have flowers and candles, and then give her the ring. Good luck!
