  1. I could not find the right spelling in english but if you use orthotolidon indicator(Free Cl indicator) water gets yellow. That means it has Cl2 in it.

  2. In order to determine the presence of chlorine in  a water sample use a powder or tablet chemical DPD (N,N diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) that causes a color change to pink in the presence of chlorine. An alternative is the use of o- tolidene solution which gives a yellow colour. These test indicators are easily available from any swimming pool supply company or if you know somebody with a swimming pool you can get some indicator from them.

  3. You mean chloride in water?  If it is so, then you can use a drop of silver nitrate, which will precipitate chloride as white silver chloride.  Hope this solves your doubt.

  4. electrolyse them? haha

    i'm not sure myself.

there will be H, OH, Cl ions in the water with chlorine wouldnt it?
