Nature will prune it. Ants and mosquito's They come and go you connot distroy them when you do you'll have cancer. Two choices cancer or put up with bugs.

prune the tree so that the sides are facing upwards and not outwards

generally try and keep a ball shape going on

or a rounder shape such as an oval

tbh the ants im not that sure maybe place ant killer around the base of the tree so that they cant get onto the tree without going through the ant killer
