Question:

How to put HP laserjet m1522n in power-save mode / standby ?

I have an HP Laserjet M1522n that should only consume ~10 watts in standby mode. The problem is, it never enters standby mode! It always says "Ready" and is warm to touch.

It's connected to a network via a router. I don't use it that often.. maybe 2x a week, so I obviously want to be green and save energy when it's not in use.

I looked through the manuals and through the lcd menu on the printer itself, but to no avail. There is NOTHING about how to put this thing into standby mode. Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. that model has a firmware update that may solve your problem, just go to the link below and click on your operating system, then on the next page scroll down till you see Firmware.you may also have to go into your printer settings, find power saving mode and set it from there.

  2. I agree, there is nothing available about putting it on standby or even what it would "look like" when it goes into standby.

    1.  After leaving it for awhile and then using it, does it take longer for it print then printing one job after another?

Contact their technical support via on-line chat.  They are usually very helpful.
