How to put a password on a folder?

ok im puting a folder on my traveldrive/flashdrive w/e u wana call it. im using 7zip portable and i want to put a password on the folder itself not its contents how do i do that? because whenever i try to put a password on it it puts a pass on everything the folder and its contents but its contents wont run because of the passord on them because they run off of eachother so i only need a password on the folder itself how do i do it?
