How to put a video online?

the humane society I help has a lot of pets on petfinder. They've seen other animals on there with videos and we think it will be a great way to get people to find a good pet of ours. They asked me to try and find out...

So in very basic terms, so an idiot(me) can understand, step by step, how do I put a video from a new camera, onto the internet?

Since you did not tell us which camcorder or which computer, here is the high level:

1) Shoot the video of the animal.

2) Transfer to computer.

3) Edit the video.

4) Save in a format your website supports (.avi or .mov or .mp4 are most typical)

MiniDV tape, hard drive and flsh memory cameras will work best. DO NOT GET A DVD based camcorder.
