Question:

How to put and end to late night noise in an apartment complex?

I live in a complex of townhomes, pretty nice. In the past we have had college kids (Im a 23 year old college student myself) live here and have had party's on weekends- no problem. The only thing that bothers me is when these groups hang out in FRONT of their apartment late at night. I work early, so all I hear are their laughter and talking before going to bed. Im pretty sure I can call the complex and file a complaint, or even leave a note that they be more courteous. Anyone have any other solutions? I don't know if police deal with stuff like this since its really not an offense. It also causes my dog to bark throughout the night when he hears them.

  1. The first thing I"d do is to go over to their house during the daytime and politely tell them your situation.  If they take no action, then I'd call the landlord or property management company.

Depending on how loud they are, it is, in some communities, an offense that officers will check out for you.

Hope you soon start getting some sleep!

  2. I had the same problem so I know what you are going thru.  What you need to do is call the police and file a noise complaint, the police will show up and issue warnings and you can remain anonymous if you like.  If someone is playing loud music it's considered the same offense actually.

With this type of thing it wont stop happening until you take action so dont put it off any longer and hopefully you and you're dog can get a good nights rest.

  3. Calm your dog so he knows that the noise is not a sign of danger.  You will remember this townhome for the rest of your life.  Because i can tell from your question that you are destined to own your own house.  No more people living right next to you.  No more silliness.  See if you can make it to the end at the lease and then never look back. /
