i am typing up vocab words (in german) in Microsoft excel. how do you put in an umlaut? (the U with 2 dots above it)

  1. Go to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Language > Details > Add > Input Language select the language.

    On your Task Bar you will find an option to select the language you want. The open bracket will print ü.

    BTW, this will work for ANY Windows application.
