  1. play a little game with them before you start teaching

  2. be honest, restectful and calm but assetrive (I sound like Ceasar..) Treat them like friends, don't act like a dictator, you don't seem the type anyhow. When you command with honesty and respect, the kids can't do otherwise than reply in the same way. The odd discidents need to be kept busy, but I'm sure you learned how to deal with those kids.

  3. Hi there,

The best way to put students at ease in the classroom is to make sure you are motivating them to learn....   They should be excited about being in your classroom because they know learning is fun and challenging.  Smiling is important because they need to feel secure and happy with the person they will be will all day long.  But candy and other bribery things... don't work.  Kids start to get the impression they are there to get trinkets.

Kids are not in school for trinkets... they are there for knowledge.  So offer knowledge in different and exciting ways... and give the students good reasons for liking school... liking their classroom, hungry for education and loving their very smart teacher.  :))

    Good Luck

    Sincerely,

    A very motivated teacher.

  4. Just smile, and try to relate to them.

Crack some jokes, introduce yourself, and tell them about your class.

But don't be a total pushover. A lot of students (including me) appreciate strict teachers over the softies.

If it's your first year teaching, be careful. Some students may try to take advantage of you. Happened last year in my class (Lol).

  5. first.. don't be too strict with them.. they are just children..

but do warned them if they're being TOO noisy or naughty...

second... smiling is good.. :) make the environment a happy one... do activities they like... like erm.. drawing? colouring? sharing ideas during  your lesson let them sit in groups

third... i think it's best to have Q n A session too.. of cuz with easy questions :D...let them ask any curious questions while the others can answer them according to their own prior knowledge....add in more information that they don't know of..

fourth make the classroom lively... make them think together and help them stimulate ideas besides using teacher-centred method....  have activities or role playing... but make sure they're not TOO noisy... :)

    Good Luck!! :)

  6. Give them candy.
