Question:

How to quit fast food job?

Okay, so I just started working at a fast food place this week and it's horrible! I don't particularly like the job (it's fast food!) but the people I work with are even worse! My manager is totally condescending not understanding and most of the other employees are rude. I want to quit but I need some money so I figure I'll stick around for two more weeks.

I was wondering how long of a notice I should give them before I leave? I was thinking 2-3 days tops. I'm gonna be leaving on vacation right after I quit so two weeks notice is out of the question.

Note: I'm not looking to use this job as a reference in any way. I'm 18.

  1. if they are being rude and mean...I would just walk out.

thats actually what I ended up doing at two different fast food jobs.

i wouldnt feel bad, if the boss is a jerk.

or...call up and tell the manager you are quitting, and Why you are.

maybe they will be nicer next time, who knows...?

also, no they cant hold your check. they will have to let you have it on the regular payday.

  2. No, he can't hold your paycheck.,you could file a complain with the labor dept.

it's better to give him 2 weeks , but if you will not use it for future reference 2-3 days will be enough.

just be polite when you call him, and you could tell him you have a family emergency,or you going back to school...etc

  3. Your supposed to give a two weeks notice whenever you quit a job. So if there is any chance at all that you might want to use this job as a source, I would give them two weeks in order to be on good terms when u leave them in case a future employer ever calls them.

  4. Always give as much notice as possible. In fast food a lot of times they let you go right away anyway.

You want to give as much notice as possible since in the future one of your co-workers or the manager may be at another business you do want to work for and may not get if you aren't professional.

Also you want to be considerate of the other employees that will have to take on your extra workload. You would want them to do that for you if things were reversed.

  5. I disagree with the first answer. Give them enough notice for them to find someone to fill in your shift. I would say 2-3 days is pretty good.

  6. With a job that bad. You don't need to give a notice.  The notice is only a courtesy.  Since you're not using the job as a reference, just get your money and go.  On the day you decide to quit, just don't show up to work.  Call in and let them know,  this helps so they don't give you more c**p.
