How to quit my first summer job?

i've only been working for less than a month, and school starts in a month, and i was just wondering what would be a good way to tell my boss that i want to quit? i know i should give a 2 week notice, but what if s/he (the boss) say stuff like "ohhh can you work at least once a week" how do i say no to it?

any experiences?

ohhh and will they do funny things (not LOL funny...)to my paycheck or my hours because i am leaving?

give them a written a notice that you are quitting, with the date of your last day you are available. tell boss you appreciate the job and experience. and yes, you need to give at least a two week notice, but you can give more than that if you want to tell them now. if the boss says something like "you can work at least once a week..." just tell them No i'm, sorry i can't. Or that your parents don't want you to.

They can't do anything to your paycheck. I really don't think they will cut your hours because you are leaving. usually they only cut your hours if they want you to leave and if you are a lousy worker!!

Presumably they are well aware that you would be staying only until school started. It should have come up when you interviewed.

Talk to your supervisor and let him know when you need to leave. You can put it in writing, but don't just leave a written notice for someone; talk to them.

No, legally they cannot do anything funny to your pay. It is possible they will cut your hours to give to someone who has more of a commitment to staying, but if you'rea good worker, it's more likely that they'll try to get every bit of work they can out of you before you go.

You should always give two weeks notice. I'm sure they will appreciate the gesture and respect you wishes. And besides many employers understand that summer jobs are just summer jobs for students.
