i know this sounds REALLY stupid, but i want to know if there is an undetectable way to break your computer. I've had a hp pavilion desktop for 8 years, and i want to buy a laptop, but my dads wants a good solid reason. so i want to know if there is a way to "brick" my computer, in a way that it looks like it happened because of age

  1. Download tons of stuff you find in ads, they ALL contain viruses. Leave your computer on through nights with the internet adapter on. Subscribe to spam lists; better yet, open all the spam, you get. It'll still look like it crashed due to age, especially if you get the blue screen of death.

  2. There is a fan attached to the heatsink for the CPU.  You can disconnect the power to this fan and run your computer.  A CPU overheating often renders the motherboard useless as well as the CPU.  Then, after it fries, you can reconnect the wire and blame it on old age.

But that's not very honest, is it?

  3. stage a break in

  4. You could open it up and disconnect the hard disk.  It would be pretty easy to conceal a broken wire to a power connector, for example.

Then when you get the new machine, the old machine could mysteriously start working again, using another power connector.  And you could access it's additional resources over your network when you want them.

  5. Hp Pavillion's haven't been around for 8 years lol. I think you have alterior motives here.

  6. You can always infect your computer with spyware and viruses. This may fool the average Joe, but this technically isn't "breaking your computer".

There's nothing much you really can do with a laptop to "break it" (opening it would probably make signs that are noticeable). Maybe make it overheat somehow.

And "unknown", Pavillions have been around since 1995.

  7. No, I will not tell you how to break a computer, just to be replaced with another.  Your computer may be 8 years old, but it is still a viable computer, may need a little upgrade, such as hard drive, memory, possible even an upgraded processor.  Ask your dad to take you and your computer down to best buy and ask them to up grade your computer, and I promise. you will be happy as a lark with the results.

If you have a lot of needless things downloaded on your computer, that is what causes it to run slower.  That computer would be good to use for many years to come.

  8. buy the laptop with your money and stop relying on your parents for everything..
