Question:

How to raise confidence in driving a car?

I obtained my P1 license 2 months ago and started driving 3 days ago. I don't know why I feel very unconfident in driving the car. Something inside makes me feel very scared every time I think about driving a car to somewhere and don't know when I will break the law. Does anyone have any ideas how to boost up the confidence in driving the car safely?

  1. tell the person that they can go places they want with out having to wait for parents or friend.

  2. the best advice is just to take it slow and PRACTICE!!  the only way you are going to become comfortable with driving is to slowly do it and get used to it. start slow... just run one quick errand or just drive around the block. don't push urself to do more than you feel comfortable with. have someone you trust and is a good driver come with you some time and give you some pointers. that way, you will know that you are doing things right and feel more confident.

try not to worry, everyone is a little nervous at first. just trust urself and take it slow... IT WILL COME!! :)

    good luck!

  3. The more often you drive, the more comfortable you will be. You should never be totally confident driving since that will cause you to be less cautious. A little bit of "being scared" can be a good thing since it makes you more cautious. Good luck, keep driving, and always have respect for the road and what can happen there.

  4. Get a few lessons from a Professional Driving Instructor.....this person will give you proper training in basic skills and safe habits which will assist you the rest of your life.

Once you learn the basics, get lots and lots of practice in quieter areas at first and then go into busier areas as you develop your skills and confidence. No one is born knowing how to drive. It's an acquired skill, so enjoy the learning process.

Your generation grew up in a car and perhaps think they should already know everything by the time they begin to drive.

It takes a lifetime to learn the skills and habits to remain safe on the roads........

ALWAYS BE ON TASK........even AFTER you pass that in-car Driving Test and take it forgranted that you know all there is to know.............that's when the unexpected happens.....ask anyone with some years of experience.

Your generation has more safety equipment, efficient running vehicles, high tech assistance AND more distractions........

Have fun out there...............enjoy the challenge! Embrace this new experience and become a GOOD driver........a SKILLED and CONFIDENT driver...........

  5. Self-esteem is simply knowing you’re “O.K.” before you ever do anything.

It isn’t related to experiences. It comes from within. When you have healthy self-esteem, you simply accept yourself as you are right this instant, an imperfect, but changing and growing, worthwhile human being.

  6. Practice is the only way.  Find some streets that no one else drives on, or go to the driving range at the school and practice more.  If you are worried about freeway driving, go out during the day or on a Saturday when there are not many people out.

Just remember that you don't have to drive any more aggressively than you want to.  If you don't feel comfortable changing lanes, then stay in the slow lane.  But just practice.  Practice without your friends or any distractions in the car and don't feel pressured into taking them out until you feel comfortable.

    Good luck!

  7. just keep practicing.  the more you practice, the more confident you will become
