  1. Only if they report it to the credit companies.  Aside from that, you would need to make sure you pay them on time and in full for it to positively affect your report if they do send info to the credit bureaus.

Overall, you can raise your credit score by paying bills (loans, credit cards, etc.) on time, keeping credit card balances low or paid off, etc.

  2. Read this article, http://www.monitorbankrates.com/how-to-b...  , they list several tips on how to improve your credit.

  3. Utility companies often do not report to credit reporting agencies.  If they don't report, it doesn't help your credit.  In my area, the gas company reports, the electricity and cable companies do not.

  4. no...but you CAN make it look bad by not paying the bill and it going to collections.

  5. Not really. If you want to raise your credit score, just get a small loan for 24 months and pay it back in 12.

  6. You still have to be approved to have your name on a utility bill, I believe. It should show up on your credit, but it's not going to make a huge difference. The only way to bring the credit score up is to not get yourself in more debt, start paying it all off if you haven't already, and the key is giving it time.
