How to re-attach sponge to handle?

Question

I got a sponge with a sisal net, on a handle as a gift. It's from a company that's supposed to be decent (Swissco) but the d**n sponge came off after a week! Is there a particular adhesive that I should use to attach a sponge to wood or will any suitably water-resistant epoxy do the trick?

i think anything water resistant will do the trick.
