Question:

How to re-route my Garmin 260...?

Hi,

I've just gotten a GPS and i'm still learning how to operate it. I was wondering how to tell my Garmin 260 to follow a certain route instead of the one it calculates for me. Sometimes the routes it chooses for me are not the best: i.e it goes through traffic lights, instead of taking me on the highway. Even though I went on the highway, it was still trying to get me on the route it had calculated for me. Is there a way to do that on this garmin version? if not, is there any other model that does it? Also, is it possible to save a certain route once you've traveled it with garmin? Thanks for your help in advance.

  1. idk

  2. If you press the Menu button, you can then press Detour and the unit will calculate another route.  On some models you can set "via points," or points you want to pass on the way to you destination.  On the nuvi 200 you can only have one via point.  The 260 might be the same way.  I know on the higher-end models you can add more via points.  As for the unit trying to guide you back to the surface roads from the highway, it will try to do that because it thinks you went off course and it is convinced the surface road is faster.
