I purchased a Black & Decker power item about a year ago. I tried to re-charge the VersaPak interchangeable battery, but it is dead, and will not accept a charge. What can I do to re-charge it? I only used it once. Now its dead/

  1. You don't recharge it now...After they have a shelf life of so long they eventually die..also you are supposed to drain the battery completely the fitrst time you use it and then recharge it..this is called "conditioning" the battery...This makes them last longer if you condition them to draw all thier power out the first use..then recharge..and go from there..black and decker has weak batteries to start with

  2. Sometimes you can get a little life back by trying to cycle the battery several times.  If it will charge enough to turn the flashlight/drill motor or whatever on for a little bit, run it down all the way again and try recharging it.  If you do this four or five times sometimes you can get them back, partially.  Your best bet is to shop for a new battery or new kit.  I have lost confidence in Black and Decker over the last few years.
