Hi New Yorkers,

I along with my wife am planning to go to Nassau Coliseum Uniondale from Flushing, New York.

Don't have a car,so looking for public transport.

Can anybody who knows let me know what would be the best way to go come back from there.

Coming back would at late around 12:30 or 1:00 pm depending on the time when the show ends.

Please advise the safest options also for coming back.

Thanks,

Amar

  1. Unfortunately, Nassau Coliseum doesn't really have public transportation near it like that....

You can take the LIRR and get off at Mineola and catch a cab.  From Flushing though, you'll have to backtrack to Woodside probably to get the train heading to Mineola.

Otherwise, you can take the bus but it'll be a very long commute--the N71/N72 stop right on Hempstead Turnpike in front of Nassau Coliseum.

I would really suggest going the LIRR route though--it's faster and safer and easier.

  2. Hi;

I agree with Corp's answer regarding the train, but I would take it to Westbury (2 stops east of Mineola on the Port Jefferson line)

    From the Coliseum website:

    By Bus

Take either the N70, N71 or N72 from the Hempstead Terminal, which will drop you off on Hempstead Turnpike opposite the Nassau Coliseum. Information for all buses to and from the Nassau Coliseum can also be obtained by calling 516-228-4000

    By Train

LONG ISLAND RAILROAD: 516-822-5477 and 718-217-5477.

*There is no train stop for the Nassau Coliseum; you will need to take a bus or a taxi to the venue from any station.

Nassau Coliseum in located near 3 LIRR train stations; Westbury, Hempstead & Hicksville:

Westbury Station: Taxis are located at the train station. There is no direct bus service available to Nassau Coliseum from the Westbury train station.

Hempstead Station: Walk one (1) block to the Hempstead Bus Terminal. Take either the N70, N71, or N72, which will drop you off on Hempstead Turnpike opposite the Nassau Coliseum.

Hicksville Station: Taxis are located at the train station. There is no direct bus service available to Nassau Coliseum from the Hicksville train station.

Arriving you would be ok at any of these stations and there is a bus depot right across the street from the Hempstead station.

Returning home, avoid Hempstead and get a taxi to Westbury.  That would be closer than Hicksville.  Buses stop running around midnight and the depot area in Hempstead leaves a lot to be desired.  If you decide to taxi to Westbury use Stuarts Taxi and wait near there for your train (516) 334-2900 (516) 333-1111.  The platform is elevated and kind of isolated for a long wait (althought I think it is safe enough it is creepy)

    Enjoy your show.‎

  3. To get there:

Leave early if you take Mass Transit or LIRR.

Take Q20/Q44 Southbound along Main St to Merrick Blvd.

Walk north to 89th Av (165th St Bus Terminal.)

Take crowded N6 ride to Hempstead Transit Center.

Transfer to N70/N71/N72 to Nassau Collieseum.

    By LIRR

Take any buses along Main St to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av/LIRR-Airtrain Jamaica Station.

Take Hempstead Branch to Hempstead Station for N70/N71/N72 bus.

Please note: Long Island Bus except N6 is not 24-hour. Please refer to see Long Island Bus schedule on MTA Webstite.

    Thank you.
