  1. The Swiss rail system is one of the densest in the world, it's very reliable, safe and clean, so I reccommend to use it.

A direct connection/ride from Zurich to Thun takes you 1:20 hours, a second class return ticket will be 110.00 SFR.

If you want to do something special, go via Lucerne and the Brünig pass: very scenic, spectacular, by rack-and-pinion railway! That trip takes you around 2:30 hours, its cost will be only slightly more expensive (122 SFR).

By car, it's 151 kms, the trip should take 1:40 hours, though nothing much interesting to be seen on the way (motor way).

Happy travelling in the land of the Helvets!

  2. I also recommend using the train. The Swiss train network is one of the best in the world.

  3. I'd recommend to take a train Thun is sort of close to Bern and it took a couple hours to get to Zurich.  I do NOT recommend to take a car.  Train by my guess is about 3 to 2 hours.  Car is how ever many.

  4. Either by train or car!
