I own a CANON DC330 camcorder. When I bought it, it came with an AV Cable. (The cable with red, white, and yellow plugs). I am totally clueless on how to record. Help me!

  1. Simply put, a camcorder isn't meant to record from other sources.  It is a camera that records its own material.

But this is how you can do it.  You can use your camcorder as a "VCR" by connecting it to the output of any device that has the RCA three color plugs - yellow, red, white.  Using your AV (RCA) cable, plug it into the output of the device you want to record to.  If you want to record TV shows, hook up a VCR to a TV program source (like cable TV) and connect the VCR output to the camcorder's input.  Most camcorders uses the same ports for input and output.  You'd need to read the manual to see how to switch the video direction on the port.  Some camcorders may not support input, so keep this in mind.  Check the camcorder's view finder or LCD screen.  If you see your program on the screen then you've hook it up correctly.  Put a tape in the camcorder and press record.

  2. No you cant record TV with your cam, it has no kind of 'input' connection, only output. Im not sure if this is standard with all cams.

People i know who record gameplay via a TV have use a dvd recorder.
