How to recover files from my hard drive?

My laptop has recently died on me, the connector jack inside my laptop has become loose so i cant charge my laptop, i was wondering if anyone knew of a device in which i could plug my hard drive into to recover my files, music and photos after removing it from my laptop

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

  1. This is easy... you can buy for less than $20 a 2.5" external hard drive enclosure.. this will connect via USB to any PC.  This will be like have a HUGE jump or flash drive.  You'll be able to get all of your data-music-photo's and copy them to anoother PC.

  3. Yes, go with the 2.5" caddy option.  

    If the operating system is Windows XP/Vista and the user account you had was "Private" in that other computer users couldn't see your files, then to access your files you will (1) either have to have an account with the same name and permissions to open the folder, (2) take ownership of the folder by carrying out the backup with an account that has Administrative privileges, or (3) use a file explorer that can read through Windows security measures (e.g. Linux based utility).
