I am trying to recover my files. I have a Toshiba with XP. Although it does not boot from the hard drive, using a boot CD did boot it. All the files except those files in MYSAFE have been recovered. There does not appear to be any files there. Do you have any suggestions on how to recover these files.

Thanks

  1. try to use "recover my files"

  2. you need to bring your computer to someone that can pull your hard drive and put it on another computer it may work it may not it depends on how messed up your hard drive is i work at a computer shop and we do this all the time hope this helps

  3. I only know one utility that have been reliably used and can recover a harddrive, even dead hd, 99.9% of the time. Get SpinRite from GRC, (Gibson Reasearch Corporation). Please go to http://www.Spinrite.Com or http://www.grc.com/intro.htm . , Please don't use any Disk recovery tool from any other manufacturer especially Symantec.

    Hope this helps, goodluck

  4. if you have a second computer, just take the hdd out of your computer and plug it in as a Slave HDD and you should be able to get your files back, to change it to slave just look for some pins http://service1.symantec.com/support/kb_...

and the settings should be instructed on the hdd
