I mistakenly got hit with the AntiVirus XP 2008 spyware/virus, and now the PC boots to the hijacked desktop and does not allow anything to run, not even Task Manager using Ctl-Alt-Del. How do I get rid of the hijacked desktop? There are no other users on this machine. Safe Mode also locks up. Thx!

  3. Bloody antivirusxp 2008! ....

ok heres a detailed answer link below.

AntivirusXP 08 is a malware. a malware is a porgram or a website that leads you to buy or download things. its like a scam. antivirXP08 ussualy comes with a trojan horse. it can

    1)virus scan

    2)follow instructions on link

3)you might consider downloading "woopti uttilities" and let it clean and erase your corrupt DLL files and registry. if nothing works, select antivirus 2008 (or watever) on the remove application tab. select ALL the files and delete(it works!).

4)your computer is on "lockdown" and dont listen to what antivirus 2008 says. its not a virus but it will slow your computer down and try to make you buy their antivirus.

it contains a trojan whcih can do anything from read what you write to control your computer wirelesssly. i tried several free anti spyware but it only scans your computer, not fix it. so i tried yahoo's CA yahoo! anti-spy. it didnt get the antivir 08 but it found the trojan that has been my system for a few months already. it was concealed in my utorrent!

anyway getting a better spyware would getrid of the antivirus o8

  5. Have the people at btexpress look at your computer. The site is btexpress.page.t and it has great deals. See for yourself. The site is a real site that fix computers problems no matter how big and small.

  6. Some commercial antiViruses programs allow you to boot from the disk that came with the package.

Then it can run from the CD scan the disc and attempt repair from there.

I am not going to recommend any since they all have their plusses and minuses and one may be able to fix the specific virus Antivirus XP 2008 and some may not.

I would contact the support services of the Vendors like McAfee, Norton, Panda, etc directly to see if they have definition files yet for your specific virus.

And if their software can run a machine that can't even run Safe Mode.

That's pretty nasty.   A sure solution would be to reinstall XP.

Then you can start out all fresh...

But I know no one ever wants to do that.   But its really not that hard.

It may take less time actually than trying to get rid of a real nasty virus and then you're sure its gone.

  7. use manual removal instructions
