How to recycle old makeup that are NOT mac products?

This has been bugging me for a while. I don't want to throw the old makeup away in the trash, but I have no idea where to recycle the old junk. Where are the actual cosmetic contents supposed to go? Cuz mostly, I have stopped using some products, and beside the plastic container, there's still concealer/blush/foundation, etc.

You can't...just clean out the container and put it in the designated recycleing bank in your area.Sorry but it's the only way.*

Just throw it away.  After it's been opened it gets bacteria and starts to go bad.

If your not using it, its best just to throw it out.

You really should throw out makeup you still use if you've had it for over 6 months.
