I have to produce a original idea on how to reduce carbon emissions in a typical secondary school. It must have a noticable impact on the school and use 21st century technology.

  1. Blow atmospheric air though a supercooled  pipe. The CO2 will freeze out at about -80°c but the nitrogen and oxygen will go on through.

  2. Bacteria and microalgae are the solution.

Blow the emission gases in atmosphere controlled greenhouses and fermentation reactors.

Your algae and bacteria will grow for our needs of biomaterial, that incidentally is also free of radiocarbon 14C.

  3. Most methods that have a real impact are really very low tech:

    Plant Trees

Use less heat in winter and less AC in summer -  (inulate better  - change thermostat settings)

Alternative Power - Employ wind or solar energy to Power school systems (if you live somehwere with wind or plenty of sun)

    Use more efficient lighting.

Upgrade HVAC systems to provide the right temperature to the right room at the right time efficiently

Cafeteria - switch to lower carbon footprint foods - less meat, more vegatables.  Consider planting and growing food using organic fertilizer made from compost from the schools waste.

Trash - recycle, reuse and, compost all you can.

Reduce paper use - more online material and tests.

Reduce fuel use getting to school - car pools, bicycles, more efficient bus routes (maybe fewer bus routes)
