I am shortsighted and I am wearing spectacles. My power reading of both eyes is 500, I started wearing when I was 13, now I am 17. My friend's power is 1000 but she started wearing when she was 9, and now she's 17. What is the correct term for "power"? Is there any method to reduce my eye "power"?

  1. -5.0 and -10.00 diopters are huge for people of such a young age. This is the amount of blur a person has. People with prescriptions this high are often more introverted and clutsy with poorer hand eye coordination.

Artificial corrections(glasses, contacts, lasik) are alternatives to Natural Perfect eyesight. When people start researching natural eyesight they first come across the many scams of eye exercises(eye pushups, eye aerobics, eye yoga). Most people intuitively know that their vision changes and sometimes it is better. Eye exercises play off of this intuition to make money without an honorable return.

In order to return to Natural Perfect eyesight we need to unlearn the incorrect vision habits, reintegrate the correct vision behaviors, and undo the damage of artificial corrections. Avoid anything that talks of eye exercises and even eye potions, nutrition is important but does not change the way we use our eyes.

  2. That would be - 5.00....which is 5 diopters...your girlfriend would be -10.00...which is 10 diopters of power in the lenses.

Short of laser surgery or intra ocular implants, there is no other way to reduce your myopia....and you are too young for either.

Myopia is the real term for " short or near sightedness "

You will both be experiencing fewer changes over the next couple of years as your main growth is almost done...normally.

By the time you are in your early 20's, laser surgery may have made even more advances and be even safer by then....making that  probably your best option.
