How to refer Lunar calender?

Suppose a date say may8th 1997 in our calendar refers which date and month in chinese lunar calendar? How we can refer this? Pls help

Muslim calender strictly follows lunar calender. Indian Almanac (Panchangam) is basically lunar calender. Some practitioners keep back-dated Panchangams who can be of help. Lunar year is 354 days. On an average the lunar phase (there are 15 each for waxing and waning moon separately, one every day) in a succeeding year falls short by 11days.
