  1. First, the Acer Laptop cannot be linux or mac. Second, you may have a Hidden Recovery Partition. If so, pressing F10 while starting up will show you the recovery options. Choose the destructive method.

If you were supplied recovery disks with your laptop, or if you have burned disks from the Recovery Partition, you could insert your recovery disk into the CD/DVD slot and run a destructive recovery.

Both methods will format the hard drive and restore the original condition of the computer. Acer laptops, like all PCs, cannot run Mac OS, but it can probably run Ubuntu Linux, if you want to change away from Vista.

  2. Hi Woody

When in windows, go to your D drive. That is where Acer hide the recovery disk. Run it from windows. It will automatically restore factory default when you first purchased the computer.

  3. Insert the disk. Press the key to continue installation.

    Then follow steps.

Format when it asks you to.

    Then install the OS

Finally once you are inside format all the other drives using the OS

  4. Stick your Windows/Mac/Linux disc in and follow the instructions to format (after restarting and letting it boot off the disc that is).

Either that, or maybe you have one of those "bundle" discs which I can only say: stick it in and browse it for a readme file and/or restart and boot from it and see what it does (if it boots at all).
