Well I have a friend of mine who really isn't a close friend. Even my Fiancé has not even met him. He heard from my friends that I am getting married and has been calling me and emailing me to say "I am so happy for you, am I invited to your wedding?" but really we try to keep the wedding small and under budget..so we are only inviting relatives and close friends. I do not know how to give an answer that won't hurt his feelings, I wanted to do this in a nice way...please help.

  1. I think it's so rude for people to outright ask for an invitation.  I had a similar thing happen and I just emailed him back saying,

"Thanks for the well-wishes.  We greatly appreciate it.  We are having a small wedding of only family and very close friends, so I hope you understand and are not offended."

  2. tell him to go to yahoo!answers and read about a problem that you are having.

  3. First off, don't feel guilty about not inviting him, and definitely don't feel bad about breaking the news - after all, he's being extremely rude by asking if he's invited.

Then, simply and politely tell him that you have a strict budget and have to keep the guest list very small, and that you can't invite everyone that you want to. It's not a lie - you ARE on a budget and keeping things small - so don't feel guilty about telling him that he's not invited.

Thank him for the well wishes, and invite him to get together for lunch with you and your new husband after the wedding.

  4. Say, "I'm really sorry, but I already gave out invites and we're trying to keep the wedding as small as possible"

If they're not a close friend, then don't even worry about hurting their feelings, you shouldn't feel bad about what you want.

  5. Just be real. Say, "I'm soo sorry that my fiance and I  have to say this to people we really Iike, but  we need to keep the wedding small and under budget..so we are only inviting relatives and a few very close friends. I wish we could invite everyone, but unfortunately we can't."
