How to relieve burn pain?

I burned myself on a hot element. Instead of walking around with an ice pack on my hand, is there anything else I can do to "cool" it down?

  1. Aloe vera gel is the treatment for everything. ^^

  2. Never put ice on a burn. As strange as it sounds, the ice can actually cause frostbite and make the burn worse: burned skin is very fragile.

Run cool (not cold) water over your hand for 10-15 minutes. That should remove the heat from the burn and make it less painful. then you can apply a first aid cream that contains pain relief; neosporin has an analgesic added, or you can use something with licodine. You can also take an advil/tylenol. After 2 or 3 days you can apply aloe, but it's not for immediate use (unless you have a sunburn).

  3. Okay this is going to sound crazy but it works. Cold Mustard. Put it on the burn when the mustard gets warms rinse it off and repeat. I do this when ever I get hot grease splashed on my hands or arms and I never get a blister.

  4. Aloe vera gel is the way to go!!!
