House gets very hot in summer, regardless of the air conditioning. I have been told it is because the attic space is very small, and the sun beats down directly on the roof. How to remedy this?

  1. Attic fans are good, but spendy.  They pay off over time.

  2. Put lots of insulation in the attic.  Should have 12 inches of fiber glass.  You can get fiberglass bats 6 inches thick at your local home supply store.

  3. We had this problem.

My dad added insulation to the walls of the attic.  Made a HUGE difference.

Changing the windows could help too if the windows are the older models pre-70's or 80s

I think some homeowners have used solar panels to convert the heat into electricity and that has helped....

  4. Force vent fans.
