Question:

How to remove Whirlpool dryer lint trap cover?

I am spray painting the top of the dryer and want to remove the lint trap cover. Thank you for your help.

  1. I don't own a Whirlpool, but I can offer some general suggestions...

    Assuming you've already looked for obvious screws, its possible the (plastic?) cover simply snaps into place.  Try gently bending the plastic and see if the hinge pops out on either side.

    If removing the cover seems like too much trouble, a simpler solution might involve masking off the cover (and any other areas you desire) with masking tape.  Blue painters tape (made by 3M, available at paint and hardware stores) is the standard for paint masking, and is easily removed.  However, for such a small area any tape will do.  Keep in mind, paint will run off plastic tapes creating drips, whereas masking tape (the blue included) is easier to work with both in terms of drippage and removal.
