Question:

How to remove a big skin tag at home?

My boyfriend has got a big skin tag on his back and he would like to remove it. I read you could remove them at home, and considering it's on his back, I have to do the removing. I heard you could cut it off, but I'm a big baby and don't want to accidentally hurt him.

Then I read you could tie a piece of string around it so that it dies, and fall off within a few days.

Would this only work on small skin tags, or would it still work on a big skin tag (the size of a raisin). Or would it be dangerous?

  1. Hmm I wouldn't cut it if it is that big.

Why don't you try the string method for a few days and see  how he feels and it would depend on how much of it is attached to the skin. If you have a large-ish area that is attached to his back, it might not close up properly.

Best is a doctor. But I would personally try to the string thing a little if you are determined to do it at home. Don't cut!

  2.      Anytime you allow a way for a virus or any other foreign object to enter the body, your playing with fire. We can go through all the "what ifs" here and they may or may not all enter the scene.

I would prefer you just listen to me and see your doctor, let him do the removing with sterile methods.

  3. My Doctor recommended the string method years ago  but I think it was more useful for smaller tags.  I think the Doc could freeze it off nowadays.

I tried the string method myself on a small tag and it worked brilliantly...however your bf's is large and I would be scared to try it on one that size and it would probably hurt too.

  4. Hey there. I have snipped skin tags off before but they were real tiny. I'm not sure how big I would be comfortable with as far as that method goes. I've not tried the string method but have heard it can work but might be painful while you wait for it to fall off. Might be worth a try though. I don't think it is dangerous per se, just uncomfortable. You can also have them removed at the doctor's. I had a couple removed that way years ago but they charged about $150 for a 5-minute procedure which I thought was ridiculous.

Another way I've heard of is putting nail polish on it, but I'm not sure if that really works or not.

    Good luck!
