How to remove a blood stain?

my younger sister had a bloody nose while she was sleeping and it stained on her favorite comforter .. how can i help her remove this? she's pretty bummed out about it =[

If the comforter says to dry clean only, then take it to the dry cleaners and tell them that there is blood on it. They can work miracles with stains.

If it is machine washable, then wet the area with cold water. Then rub it with some deodorant bar soap (I like Dial or Irish Spring best) till the spots all soapy then take an old toothbrush and use it to scrub the spot. Then rinse and check if the blood is gone. If not repeat until it is. If it is then wash as usual.

Remember to take it to the dry cleaners if it says dry clean only.

Soak it in cold water with meat tenderizer.

Take the comforter up to the sink and with a spray bottle squirt the stain with very cold water, then rub with a baby wipe and then spray again until the blood is almost gone.  Then wash the comforter in the automatic washer on cold water setting for both wash and rinse.

If your home washer is not of a large capacity then find a laundromat in your area that has a Large capacity washer and pay  to have it washed.

hot tap water and oxy clean, just don't dry it in the dryer until the stain is out.  Heat sets the stain.

Try soaking it in cold water over night, but it's best if you do it right away. If it sits too long, you might have to buy a spot remover like Shout or something like that. That always works for me.

Hydrogen peroxide.  Drop some on the stain.  Scrub,working from the outside of the stain to the center.  Then rinse with cool water and throw it in the washer on cold.

If it won't discolor the comforter that is.

DON'T USE HOT WATER!!!!!!!!  Heat sets the stain.  Use COLD water if you're using Oxi-clean or any other kind of soap.

Well, I just always used hot water an dabbed it out but if it's a comfortor, I suggest using some shampoo. (not hair shampoo!)

I have found that baking soda works really well on getting out blood. You dampen the spot and work the baking soda in with a toothbrush so that it's like a paste. Rinse and repeat if necessary.
